Exciting things are going to take place this year as we seek to not only serve New Orleans, but serve the world! God has laid upon our hearts to help believers find their calling in the Body of Christ, and send them out to impact this world for His name; for they need to see the compassion of Christ (Mark 6:34)! The 2013-14 school year has been an experience of a lifetime, but God is moving us forward in 2014-15! We want to give people the opportunity to serve, receive Bible College training, and be mentored by our pastors in order to be a blessing to the nations!
The first exciting news is that one of our interns, Amber Prestridge, has reached her placement phase and will be going to serve as the worship leader for one of our church plants in Knoxville, TN this fall! This will be our second intern that has been placed somewhere to serve full-time. Another one of our graduates serves as the Director of Outreach at the New Orleans Rescue Mission. Our program has a three-step process whereby interns go through training, leadership, and then placement. In addition, there are four interns graduating this coming year (2015), and they are going to shake our world for Jesus! It is such a blessing to see our interns go and serve other ministries!
Here is what to expect and important dates to know for the 2014-15 school year:
- August 8th: Application Deadline for the Fall
- August 25th: Bridges Christian College/First Day of Classes
- August 28th: Intern Orientation and Housing Move-In Day
- September 2nd: SUM Bible College and Theological Seminary/First Day of Classes
- November 16th-22nd: Missions Trip to a Native American Reservation in Arizona
- December 5th: Amplify NOLA Youth Rally
- April 24th: Immerse 2015 Youth Rally
- May 31st: Graduation
Here are some new ways that we are going to serve and some additions to our current ministry experiences:
- We are adding a monthly nursing home practicum where the intern can lead worship and preach!
- We feel called to go serve the Apache tribe of the Native Americans in Arizona this fall!
- We are praying about getting a drama ministry together to minister on the streets!
- We are also starting an inner-city children’s ministry practicum!
